Every day the top three networks here in the Philippines compete rigorously for the number spot in the rating with shows such as Sabel, Crusada and among other things. But the craze these days are Korean nobela's, though i have no negative opinion about them, i mean i even used to watch some like "Lovers in Paris". What bothers me is the lack of originality of us Filipino's to make our own series that is unique and awe inspiring like those of other countries. What made me say this is that we copy almost every movie or series from other countries and the tv networks here endorses this idea thinking it would be a hit. That idea goes into their minds because they want the money from the fans that it would generate without thinking how other people, countries, even us Filipinos ourselves would see this idea as a lack of imagination and creativity on our part. Take for example the tv series Immortal, clearly most of the stories background is taken from the popular book/movie Twilight. What upsets me is the lack of originality in us Filipinos when i know that we can do much more with ourselves. But i hope in time we would turn into the country that exports these series to other countries beating Korea. Someday maybe but until then we must learn to better be more original.
