Everywhere we look today we can see that our world has changed because of the improvement of technology. With the creation of modern technology today has brought countless benefits from the field of medicine, agriculture, business and many others. In short technology has changed the world, only at this time that we can communicate with other people across the world with a touch of a button, we can access information anywhere on the world because of the internet, we can even wipe a country of the map with a touch of a button because of the development of nuclear missiles, all in all technology has changed the way we live our lives. But with these great improvements comes a negative side of it as well, as the post-modernism view on technology say that we must not depend on such things and technology is a disease that would one day kill us all. In the extremist point of view this would be how i would imagine it, they are correct in some ways but i would have to disagree in some parts. Technology has helped us greatly that is a fact but we must learn not to completely put our lives in the hands of technology instead we must learn to make use of it but not depend on it after all technology is a tool created by man to help in many different ways. I would also like to point out that technology has made our lives easier with one touch communication but in some ways it has also separated us from the real world, two people may meet thru the internet even if they are from different countries, they become friends that in itself is not unheard of these days instead it has become very common but do they really know each other that they call each other friends already? For all they know the other could be a serial killer choosing his/her next victim. The fact is the internet provides the illusion that we have something similar with other people that we barely know and that can be taken advantage of by other people. Post-modernism warns us that technology is starting to become in a way independent and when that happens what do us people who depend on it so much become? We become the tools, we are the ones that are controlled instead of the other way around. Take for example the movie "The Matrix" it clearly sets a good example of technology going out of control because of our dependence on it is used against us and instead of technology helping us it turns on us and nearly wipes away all human existence, can this happen? Why not? With the events occurring in our world today and the continued dependence on technology being a post-modernist on technology can at least stop us from truly depending on technology.
